Setting up a POS-X thermal printer (like the POS-X EVO HiSpeed, EVO Green, or ION TP5 series) generally involves the following steps. These printers are often used in retail and hospitality environments and connect via USB, Serial, Ethernet, or Bluetooth.
🔧 What You’ll Need:
POS-X thermal printer
Power cable and adapter
Data cable (USB, Serial, Ethernet, or Bluetooth)
Paper roll (thermal paper)
Driver/software installation files (from https://support.pos-x.com)
🔌 Step 1: Connect the Hardware
Load the paper roll:
Open the printer lid.
Place the roll so the thermal side feeds from the bottom (outward facing).
Close the lid and ensure it feeds correctly.
Connect the power cable and plug the adapter into an outlet.
Connect the data cable (USB, Serial, Ethernet, or Bluetooth) to your computer or POS system.
💻 Step 2: Install Drivers
Go to the official POS-X support site:
Download the correct driver for your printer model and OS (Windows, Mac, or Linux).
Run the installer and follow the prompts.
Once installed, connect the printer to your PC (USB plug-in should trigger auto-detection on Windows).
⚙️ Step 3: Set as Default Printer (Windows)
Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right-click the POS-X printer and choose "Set as default printer."
🖨️ Step 4: Test the Printer
Print a test page via Devices and Printers > Printer Properties > Print Test Page.
OR
Turn off the printer, hold the Feed button, and power it back on. It should print a self-test page.
🔧 Optional: Install on POS Software (like Square, Lightspeed, etc.)
Go into your POS software settings.
Select the printer under "hardware" or "receipt printer."
Make sure the correct port and settings (like 80mm paper size) are selected.
📱 Bluetooth Setup (if applicable)
Put the printer in Bluetooth pairing mode (check manual).
Pair it in your system’s Bluetooth settings.
Install drivers and test as above.
